Rant Continued (Warning-Not Politically Correct)

Continuing on with my disdain for politics (started by Roseanne).........

I hate to be so jaded, and I AM thankful that we DO have the freedoms we have in this country and the right to vote, but the bottom line is, whoever wins never seems to change the status of MY pocketbook....

Brent and I are both college educated, both get up and go to work every day, live a relatively modest lifestyle, and STILL have to write a check to Uncle Sam for a ridiculous amount of money (this year causing me to have to resist my urge to even WALK through the Coach purse section at Macy's).  My point?

I stopped in Kroger yesterday afternoon to pick up a couple of items.  I became aware that the woman in front of me was taking an unusually long time to check out.  She was relatively young, seemingly able-bodied, and had a small child in the cart.  The reason it was taking so long, is because she was paying with food stamps (vouchers, whatever they call them now).  Now before anyone gets offended, let me explain.  I have no problem with people getting government assistance when THEY NEED IT.  I am fully aware that there are many people in positions where they truly need assistance - disabled, injured, sick, elderly, etc. My point?

I got out to the parking lot about the same time this girl did.  She got into an SUV newer and nicer than what I drive, and off she went with her groceries, paid for by our tax dollars.

The way I see politics is, whether it is a Democrat or a Republican in office, I will continue to work, write my hefty check payable to the Internal Revenue Service, and carry last years Coach purse, while some lazy, able-bodied person collects money from the government and drives a new Yukon.

Hmmmmmmmmm

I am sure there are many who work the system...Could be though that she used her settlement on disability to get her car or nice house she may have and she may have shopped 75% off at Dillards for her purse or clothes she wears..which ends up being cheaper than walmart?  Maybe..I don't know..I am on disability and the first thing I did was put money down on a house...I shop at dillards for sales and get things off season...so might look like to some I don't need assistance...right now..I am not on food stamps and even when I qualify...I only get 70 dollars a month not much...but I do recieve the max because of all the work I did before my disability...and for serving our country....I am greatful for what I have and used to think the same..am sure some are working it but some may not..and when it comes to kids..sometimes the only cool thing they get is the food that food stamps buy..not toys like others...This year I voted for who would keep my kids safe verses my pocket book...I am sick of these perverts walking!  Hope you are doing okay and have you inmy prayers!  Hugs friend!  TerryAnn

Oh, girl!  Don't even get me started on this issue!  I am 100% in agreement, and it is something that has always irked my ass to no end!  I, like you, do not have a problem paying my tax dollars to help people who truly need it... BUT.. I see so many that bilk the system of thousands of dollars, when they, in fact, could easily get out there and get a job.  Many of these people have their boyfriends living with them (unbeknownst to the government and thier social workers), who are working full time jobs, and that little bit of extra money that WE pay for, allows them to live quite comfortably.  I remember several years, wondering how, when I was working every day to support my twins, at Christmas time, the people next door who were on Welfare had nicer, bigger and better gifts for their children than I could afford to buy for mine.  It's just not right.

I told you.. Don't get me started! lol

Eeeek! YOu soooo hit one of my sore spots! I have seen this very thing happen with the person having nicer clothes, better vehicle, etc and then using medicaid or food stamps while I'm trying to make sure there is enough in the account to cover me! AND THEN.. someone who really needs the help will be made to jump thru hoops AND THEN get DENIED!! Grrrrrrr!!!!! Sorry, I'll go climb back in my corner and sulk now, luckily I don't have -too- many hot-button issues ;p

Hi... I am not going to leave any negative comments but I just happened to stop by and noticed that you wrote that you are tired of people who are able bodied to work collecting foodstamps.....I seen that you mention that the people who you feel should collect foodstamps were the disabled , injured, sick or elderly.. I disagree with that.... There are people who are working but just not making to make ends meet who use foodstamps...there are also females who yes are able to work but have small children and would rather take care their children until they are of school age.. You can not trust just anyone with your babies nowadays so when I see a woman who chooses to stay home with her babies receiving foodstamps I dont no mind at all.... I was that person..I did not work till my children were in school and yes I collected foodstamps and now that I do work I still receive foodstamps because you know what it helps and and there are just times when no matter how much money you make its still not enough..(the more money you make the more bills you have) Therefore we CANNOT judge a book by its cover...after all she the girl does have a job and she pays her taxes just like everyone else(I know I do).. and who knows said car could have been a rental...:) you never know.....

I see this a lot in my neighborhood & it bugs me! I know some people NEED assistance... but I know a few personally who just don't want to work. My husband & I are often scraping together money for essentials and standing in line behind the people you're talking about. I try not to judge but it doesn't seem fair.

Have a good day!

First off...
"I seen that you mention that the people who you feel should collect foodstamps were the disabled , injured, sick or elderly."
I seen?? She's on foodstamps.

Secondly...
"There are people who are working but just not making to make ends meet who use foodstamps."
If you can't make ends meet then don't drive an SUV that sucks up $60.00 in gas every week. That money could be spent on groceries instead of MY money going to YOUR foodstamps.

Thirdly....
I don't give a damn if you work and pay taxes. You should have thought about all that BEFORE you had your "babies". If you wanted to stay at home and raise kids you should have gone to school and had a career and saved money instead of having "babies" at 19.

And yes we can judge a book by it's cover because we are in A-M-E-R-I-C-A, can you spell that??

And another thing....Foodstamps were not meant for "stay at home mamas". They are meant for, AGAIN, disabled, injured, sick and elderly. Being a stay at home mother is a luxury just like a Yukon. If you want to be a stay at home mother drive a Yugo so I don't have to pay for your groceries.
