Thanks, Ang, for the cute tags!!
I rented a few movies Friday evening, and this (In Her Shoes) was Brent's punishment for subjecting me to Nascar on Sunday afternoon.( Although, I must say, we had fun - had friends over and grilled ribs). He kept saying "are you gonna make me watch the girlie movie?" Guess what? He LOVED it! I actually fell asleep about 30 minutes before the end, and he said the next day "That was actually a pretty good movie." I alway new my hubby, who is the ULTIMATE boy - hunting, fishing, sports, playing in dirt - had a girlie side to him. He is too sweet not to!!! LOL Anyway, I finished the movie last night, and it was a very cute movie. I LOVE Cameron Diaz - she is such a goofball girl that I could see myself hanging out with, and Shirley MacLaine was great as grandmother.
Well, we are off to the lake again this weekend, and I am already daydreaming about it. Brent is fishing on Saturday, and I will probably hit the outlet mall - been dying to check out the Pottery barn there. Oh, well, enough rambling. More later...
P.S. I have lost eight pounds, and Lelly, that "inspirational" photo is just too depressing to post - I will NEVER look like that LOL
Lelly, Sangria Times , was tagged by Hadon, The Hadonfield Myers Experience . Since I have been at an obvious loss for journal entries, I figured I better play along as well, so here goes:
1. A memorable dream that you'd like to have every night: HMMM, wouldn't you like to know?
2. A pet from your past (no longer living) to keep you company: Otto, the schnauzer my dad got my mom when they got married and was the family pet until I was twelve years old and he ran off to die.
3. A bedtime snack you'd like available to you at 3 am every night: Doritos - although that wouldn't do my diet good
4. Somebody you had a crush on in highschool (you may make them disappear at will): Tommy Lee from Motley Crue (he was hotter than any crush I could have had at school)
5. A stuffed animal that you slept with as a kid. I don't particularly remember sleeping with a stuffed animal, but I could not leave the house without my "My Friend Mandy" doll (which, subsequently, my little sister Mandee was named after)
There ya go!!!
Well, back to the real world. I spent the weekend cooking, shopping, reading, sitting on the porch admiring the lake, and listening to my husband excitedly recount his fishing tales to me. It was in the upper 20s and extrememly windy, and Brent, being the hard core fisherman that he is, was out on the lake. I swear I don't know how that boy doesn't catch pneumonia - I guess his poor ole body is just used to that kind of abuse LOL. He has really been on me to come out with him and catch a fish (I have no clue why - he wants a picture of me with a fish-men!) but I told him he will have to be patient and wait until it is warm enough that I am not in danger of losing fingers or toes to frostbite.
Well, as for the diet, I have lost seven pounds, but have blown it a couple of times, mainly on the weekends. Like last night, we went out to dinner and I HAD to have a loaded baked potato. I don't know why sometimes I have such willpower and sometimes I just lose all self- control. So, this morning, I psyche myself up to be good all week. I go in the kitchen and heat up my little weight watchers frozen dinner of hamburger steak and asparagus, and a coworker comes in with a HUGE thing of homemade fettucine alfredo - I am talking heavy cream, butter, parmesan cheese, garlic. Oh my. That one was tough - I took my little frozen dinner and walked away - I am SO proud of myself!
Oh well, back to work for now.

I just read a comment written by Nelishia, WISHING AND HOPING that really hit home with me. She said "It takes much more strength and self-control to suppress and control an emotion than to express every single thing you think and feel."
Wow. How I am learning how true that is. I have always been a very verbal person, not afraid to cut someone down to size. I have always been very quick to anger, get an attitude, yell, cuss, pitch a general fit. Now this is not something I am PROUD of and I have always attributed it to " just being in my genes." Well, being married, I have finally (yes, at 32 years of age) begun to realize, this is NOT the way to deal with people. I am learning that it gets me absolutely nowhere to fly off the handle with my husband, and I am slowly learning that there is a better way to deal with people in general - to act instead of react. Marriage is teaching me that, sometimes, people have the right to be angry and NOT talk about it until it is on their terms. It is teaching me that you get further acting calmly and rationally than ranting and raving. It is teaching me, like Nelishia put it so well, that it is much harder to control an emotion than express every negative feeling you have. It is teaching me that marriage is a long journey; to travel together, to grow together, to get angry at each other , to get annoyed at each other, to be madly in love with each other, but most of all, to learn what love really means. I don't know about everyone, but it is something I am learning about a little every day, through the good times and the hard times.
I found this in a lady named Mary Louise's journal, titled "Watching My Sister Disappear." It is her story of watching her sisters battle with Alzheimer's. I don't have a link to her journal right now, but will try to find it and add it later.
Things are going better for me, Brent and I are just trying to work through some issues. Love is grand, but it's not always easy!! Have a good weekend everyone!
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will.
You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time.
You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend.
You'll blame a new love for things an old one did.
You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love.
So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.
