Something I am Pondering....

Just a question I have been mulling over since starting my journal (earlier today LOL). Just wondering how many people share their journals with their friends and families, and how many keep it "to themselves" so to speak (with only other J-landers reading it).  I want this to be a place where I can write about everything from my bad day at work to my deepest feelings, and I am not quite sure if I want to make it available to people who know me.  How do most people handle this?  Just curious and would appreciate some feedback!

Ashlee, i am SO glad that you have started a journal. If anyone in my family or my friends here at home ever find my journal, i will have to stop writing as i do. I will never tell them about it. Its my space. If you want to keep it general, by all means, let them know about it. I am SO glad you started a journal. I am so glad we have met. Keep on writing!! Love, lisa

Only my sis and my best friend read my journal, they know everything I am going to write about anyway.  I haven't made it available to anyone else I know in person.  I consider it my spot to do and say what I want.  Hope that helps a little and welcome to J Land.

Congrats on your new journal...I love it! Anyway, the only family that reads my journals are my husband and kids...I do not give out my journal to extended family or friends...not that I write anything that they couldn't know about, but I just would rather not have everyone reading my journal...but my immediate family I do not mind at all...they love all my journals.

My family knows I write a journal, but none of them read it that I know of except my older daughter who did snoop read it at one time and still might for all I know.  I write a lot about my husband but am safe from him sitting down and finding my journal since he hates computers.  I used to tell him I was simply reading journals, but then the snoop daughter let him know I actually write in one so I admitted my crime and that was that.

If your family knows this screen name, the possibility exists that they will use an internet search engine (like Yahoo) and plug in your screen name one day. If they do, they will find your blog. I've had my same screen name for 10 years and a journal for over a year and a half. So far no one in my family has found it (or if they did, they haven't said anything). LOL  Even if they do, I don't care. I don't say anything on here that I wouldn't say to their faces. Oh! And I got your comment earlier about fonts in here. Let me ask you...do you set your font size using the journals menu (those handy drop down choices) or do you type your entry somewhere else and paste it in? Or use HTML codes? Do you type first then change the look of your text after? Take me through your process. LOL  As for this entry, it looks like Comic Sans 14 pt. That's what I always use too.

Most of my immediate family knows I journal on AOL, some seldom read it, fewer comment.  I use this forum as MY place, to say what I want, even if its about my family.  Hey, they don't like it, don't read it.  It is my expresion, how I feel, my hopes, dreams, disappointments, etc.  My husband reads it too, and he enjoys it, though there is nothing I can write here that he doesn't already know about, even if its about him.  Welcome~~

It all depends on what you write to be honest. If there is anything you do NOT want anyone in your close nit circle to know, don't write it in a public journal. You can make a private journal and have only those that you can trust be allowed to read it. I have a private journal because there was an issue with an ex friend of mine and stalking. I made a public journal about my kids so that family far away can go and read up on our daily events. Just my thoughts here...
